TERRITORY
Magliano in Toscana

The territory of Magliano in Toscana is situated in the heart of Maremma, not far from the famous tourist destinations, (Saturnia, Argentario and Parco della Maremma). The landscape is predominantly hilly, dotted by olive trees, vineyards and old stony houses typical of classic Tuscany. There are also rough expanses of impenetrable bushes and fantastic marine corners. Magliano is a medieval village enclosed within powerful boundary walls accounting for three beautiful churches (San Martino, San Giovanni Battista and la Santissima Annunziata) included within the dwelling area. Another church, outside the town's walls, St. Bruzio, stands out in between a field of olive trees. Pereta and Montiano are two remarkable places worth visiting for their panoramic positions, as well as for their historical memories. From each hill you can admire the sea with its high islands of Tuscan Archipago that seem to pitch like anchored navies. Behind every curve you might get surprised by small archaeological findings that prove the evidence of various alternating civilities, or just by places that preserve the deeply rooted legends (like the one of the thousands-year-old olive tree of the witch). The gastronomy is simple but varied; the oil is great and the wine excellent. Keep in mind that this is the production zone of Morellino di Scansano D.O.C., one of the most famous Tuscan red wines. The bathing suit parades, the festivals and the qualified hospitality within numerous agritourist structures, welcomes you to remain longer and encourages you to return back soon.

Pereta
You can find Pereta between Magliano and Scansano, in the heart of the production zone of the same famous wine Morellino di Scansano D.O.C. The Aldobrandescan stronghold of X century was subsequently incorporated within the Republic of Siena that made it become an architectonical pearl. The tower of '400 that rises out of the ancient village is majestic and powerful, as well as the small church of St. Giovanni Battista. Perfectly harmonized in nature, Pereta is an example of typical Tuscan medieval villages that unexpectedly appears at the hills of Maremma. It goes without saying that you will enjoy a fantastic panorama from this site.

Montiano
The village is a typical borgo of the hilly Tuscany with remarkable findings of the past such as the church of San Giovanni and the Torre dell'Orologio (The Watch Tower). Besides its art and history, Montiaino is famous for being an authentic terrace at Maremma, with extraordinary windows towards the sea and the surrounding countryside. Once very nice and undulated, other times so wild and intricate, however always beautiful. During the light days, it would be worth paying for a ticket for the view that opens up in front of you.
Situated in a strategic position, Montiano became an Etruscan agglomeration, a domain of Aldobrandeschi and later on, a castle of Siena. There are rare but significant traces such as ancient palaces and ruins of the town walls that prove the existence of different historical events. In 1554, the village suffered a devastating raid lead by barbarous pirates.
