Denomination of controlled origin "Bianco di Pitigliano" has replaced the Dpr on March 28, 1966.


Production disciplinary

Article 1.
The denomination of controlled origin "Bianco di Pitigliano" is reserved for white wine and sparkling wine that meet the conditions and requirements stipulated by the present production disciplinary.

Article 2.
Wine "Bianco di Pitigliano" has to be obtained from vineyards that provide the following varietal composition: Trebbiano toscano 50-80%; Greco, Malvasia Bianca Toscana and Verdello, alone 15%, in combination not more than 30%. A maximum of 10% can be made by complementary white grapes which are obtained from the varieties authorized and/or recommended in the province of Grosseto.
The registered wine producers are obliged to update their varietal composition in the period of three years following the date this production disciplinary enters into force.

Article 3.
Grapes designed for the production of the denomination of controlled origin "Bianco di Pitigliano" have to be produced in the province of Grosseto that includes: entire territories of communes of Pitigliano , Sorano, Scansano with the exclusion of its western part delimitated by the torrent Trasubbie, Maiano and the state route Monte Amiata. The boundary follows the route until the quate 377, and then it continues at the neighboring route of Gaggioli until it reaches the state route of Scansano, which follows until the houses of Brocchi. The delimitating line gets identified with the commune route Pancole - Polveraia then it follows the commune route Polveraia - Pian d'ornetta until it reaches the boundary of the northern part of Scsansano. Furthermore, it includes the territory of Manciano with the exclusion of its western part, delimitated by the commune boundary drawn by Albegna river. In the west and south it runs along the border of Manciano, it follows the route 28 until the locality of Sgrillozzo where the line gets identified with the state route n. 74 that runs until the curve of Case Poggio Lepraio (quote 39). It continues on the route n. 19 that passes through Casalnuovo and the Houses Pinzuti. It continues on the route n. 17, runs through the Houses of Lasco until it touches the river Albegna in the north.
